Reports from yesterday´s International Day of Action Against Climate Change and the G8 are starting to come in (http://risingtide.org.uk/node/217).First off the block are a Jet petrol station blockade in Norwich, a super-glue action at cheap flight specialists lastminute.com’s HQ in London, a 70-strong Shell petrol station blockade in Evershagen, Germany (more news on that one later) and a ‘tour of EEEEvil’ in Whanganui-a-Tara, New Zealand.

In the last week, we have witnessed numerous intelligent, powerful and beautiful actions against the G8 summit and global capitalism. We did, though, see some stupid and dangerous actions, as well. Let’s continue doing the first and stop doing the latter.

Some actions were small, some large, some with only a minimal of impact. While others, in particular Sao Paulo in Brazil, with serious property damage, police repression and torture in police custody. Others acted with the setting up of infopoints for live transmission of g8-tv and imc-radio direct to their local communities in attempt to build local resistance that might lead to further action for the G8. This year, you could say, there was only a handful of global actions, but what if this trend were to grow….making it evermore difficult to maintain the present hold of the G8. The protesters are gathering in a demonstration with the same route as the big one in the 2nd june.
Protesters in Rostock are marching towards the harbour, as in the first big demo.
Portuguese demonstrators report that they are being escorted by tired sweating armoured polices.
They march through the city with loudspeakers telling everyone what really happened during this last week. What really happened concerning to police and media actions.

Without a legal ground the Amy was operational today to secure highway A 19 between the airport where the G8 ‘leaders’ arrived and Rostock. With their activity the militarisation of the civil society is pushed further forward.
